Three “Murphy’s, pictured from left, Edith Creekmore Murphy, Hansford Murphy and Sally Miller Murphy, decided to have a 90th birthday “bash” May 20, 2012 at the home of Hansford and Edith Creekmore Murphy in Somerset. Sally is also 90 years young and was married to James Ola Murphy, another brother of Hansford. ALL their nieces and nephews were invited, and that’s a lot of people. Too numerous for this cousin to count. Calvin Finley Murphy, Hansford Murphy’s (center) father, had 51 living grandchildren when he passed away in 1948. J.C. Hansford Murphy is the 18th child of Calvin Finley and Lucinda “Lue” Stephens Murphy. He was born January 4, 1922 at Strunk, KY. Hansford is the only living child of Finley and Lue. Another “almost” brother, Ralph Murphy, is still living. He was raised by Finley and Lue after his mother died. Ralph was born April 8, 1928 to Hansford’s brother, Oda and mother, Bertha Moore Murphy. (Submitted by Peggy Murphy Wilson)
