Dear Editor,
I want to take the opportunity to express my gratitude to those who attended our Romney Victory Party last Tuesday evening. While the results of the presidential election didn’t go as we might have hoped, it was wonderful to have a group of committed, intelligent, well-intentioned and well-informed Republicans together (and a few ‘Democrats for Romney’), who actively seek to better our county, our state, and country through their involvement with the Republican Party. With such participation and enthusiasm, we are able to look to the future with continued faith and optimism into coming election cycles.
Indeed, it was especially encouraging to see young Republicans passionately rally behind our candidates – well-versed and passionate on issues that will affect generations of Americans, and despite President Obama’s re-election, the voter block that I represent, as McCreary County’s Youth Chair (18-40 years), were able to help members of our own generation win elected offices across Kentucky, including our own State Representative Sara Beth Gregory, who will return to Frankfort, and Congressman-Elect Andy Barr, who will head to Washington, having successfully unseated Ben Chandler in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District, helping Republicans maintain control in the United States House of Representatives. For your support all-around, thank you!
As Governor Romney so eloquently stated, “this election is over, but our principles endure,” and so, to the people of McCreary County and to young Republicans across our state and nation, I look forward to continuing to work with you to assure that those principles and the spirit that built America carry on.
Sincerely,
Shane Gilreath
Youth Chairman
McCreary County Republican Party
