Showing Respect

Dear Editor:

Please allow me this means of extending my appreciation to American Legion Post 115 Commander Rice for inviting me to participate in their Memorial Day services.

Although there were few in attendance, those there showed their respect for our war dead. There were even fewer in attendance at the VFW Post 5127 Charles E. Moore event at the courthouse Sunday at 1 p.m. I was very disturbed to note the absence of candidates who ran in the recent election, candidates who ran on the promise of being “all for McCreary County,” and the only candidate I saw was Derek Jones who was a losing candidate like myself.

To those who attended these two events I have the utmost respect for their attendance. To the ladies at Post 115 who prepared and served an excellent meal — thanks.

For God and Country,

Jimmie W. Greene, Commander

VFW Charles E. Moore Post 5127
