Editor’s Note: The McCreary County Record does not publish letters pertaining to specific cases handled by social services.
Dear Editor:
I recently submitted a letter for the editor's section. As you know it was never printed. I am very disappointed in your paper. We have the right to express our opinion. Everything in that letter was the truth and I can prove that. No certain person was mentioned or incriminated.
I do not think you should be able to pick and choose who or what can be written about. The truth is the truth and it hurts sometimes.
Freedom of Speech is what it is. We are not always going to agree but we should be allowed to share our opinion and experiences. I do not agree with everything your paper prints either but I buy it and read it anyway. I don't know if I will continue to buy it now however. I realize this is a small town and everyone knows each other but the facts need to be put to light. You can not change the truth, you can keep it under the rug and hide it but it is still there. In my opinion that is what is wrong with this county, nobody wants things to change for the better. It is "we better not say anything or that’s the way it’s always been here." I used to live in a real town and I am not used to the mentality here, and I hope I don't.
Sincerely,
Debbie Wilson Phillips
Pine Knot, KY
