STEARNS —
A local businessman passed away last week.
Morris Lee Wilson, 86, passed away Thursday at his home following a prolonged illness. He was well known for his businesses in southern McCreary County, including Speedco convenience store in Pine Knot and State Line Discount — State Line Cigarettes.
Prior to his second career as an entrepreneur, Wilson served as a computer programmer for the federal government. A World War II veteran, he was a member of both American Legion Post #115 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5669.
Wilson was born in Whitley City on November 8, 1925, to the late Brad and Sophia (Smith) Wilson. He is survived by son Mark Wilson of Florida, daughter Michele Wilson Jones of Stearns as well as a grandson.
Wilson was laid to rest in the Pine Knot Cemetery following a graveside service on Friday.
