WHITLEY CITY —  The second defendant charged in the murder of Marshes Siding man Donald Ray Keith has been captured.

Barbara Nicole Troxell, 25, of Strunk was lodged in the McCreary County Detention Center Saturday night under an indictment charging her with Criminal Complicity to commit each of four charges: Capital Murder, first-degree Robbery, Abuse of a Corpse and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

According to McCreary County Sheriff Gus Skinner, Troxell’s mother called authorities to arrange for Troxell to turn herself in. Deputy Tom Smith took her into custody on Courthouse Square without incident.

Troxell's co-defendant is Michael Todd Keith, 24 — Donald Keith's son — who is charged with actually committing the four counts.

Capital charges can be punishable by death, and Kentucky statute does not differentiate between a complicity conviction and a murder conviction.

Michael Keith is scheduled to be arraigned in McCreary Circuit Court on September 27. A court date for Troxell was not available at press time.

A memorial service for Donald Keith will be held Sunday, September 19 at Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church beginning at 4 p.m.
