PINE KNOT —
The Pine Knot Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center (PKJCCCC) is pleased to announce that a former Pine Knot graduate has returned to Center in a new capacity.
Brandon Barklage was recently hired by ACRT, Inc. as an Urban Forestry Instructor for the center.
Barklage, a 2008 graduate from Port Charlotte, FL, is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Tree Worker with several years of practical tree work experience in the field.
“Being an Instructor was always one of my goals, so getting the opportunity to come back to the familiar surroundings of this Center has allowed for a very comfortable transition” said Instructor Barklage, adding that he enjoys the laid-back community. “As a student, my Instructors not only taught me how to become employable, but their character and professionalism also made them huge influences in my life, so I fully realize the importance of this position.”
The PKJCCCC is operated by the U.S. Forest Service through an inter–agency agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor and is associated with the Daniel Boone National Forest. The PKJCCCC offers residential job training for at–risk young people between the ages of 16 – 24 and serves 224 students. The USDA Forest Service operates 28 Civilian Conservation Centers spanning 22 forest and grasslands and 18 states with a capacity of serving 6,200 students. For more information, visit: http://recruiting. jobcorps.gov/en/home.aspx. The mission of the USDA Forest Service is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the Nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of the present and future generations.
The Agency manages 193 million acres of public land, provides assistance to State and private landowners, and maintains the largest forestry research organization in the world.
