BURNSIDE —
Just as they do nearly every sweltering summer Saturday night racers and race fans from around the region converged on Burnside’s Lake Cumberland Speedway for a night of dirt track racing. Some 50 + cars competed in five different classes including one from McCreary County. James Jones (pictured) raced in the open wheel modified division but ended up with a 15th place finish after mechanical troubles forced him from the feature event after only a few laps. Another local racer, Virgil Parriman was also sidelined due to mechanical issues before he could get his car onto the track.
The track is located off Hwy. 27 just south of Burnside and just north of the Kingsford Charcoal plant.
