Hiram J. Walker

Hiram J. Walker passed away on January 6, 2013 in Mechanicsville, Va.  

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ryun Walker; his two sons Wesley and Brett; and four grandsons.  He is also survived by his two sisters Norma and Louanne Walker.

Three brothers, Edwin Mauney, Charles and Sam Wesley Walker, preceded him in death.

Mr. Walker was born in Parkers Lake, Kentucky on January 24, 1937 the son of Louie and Nell Walker.  He worked for the federal government for over 30 years in the Federal Transit Administration reaching the position of Associate Administrator for Program Management.  In 1997, Mr. Walker received the Presidential Rank Award which rewards members of the career Senior Executive Service for sustained exceptional achievements.  Prior to working for the federal government, he was a Fulbright Scholar and spent time teaching urban and regional planning in Korea at Seoul National University, where he met his wife.

Mr. Walker's family is planning a reception in his memory this spring in Kentucky.
