Dessie Leona Newell, age 69

Dessie Leona Newell, age 69 years, of Marshes Siding, Kentucky died February 17, 2010 in Somerset, Kentucky at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Sunday February 21, 2009 at McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Taylor and Rev. Dillard Bryant officiating. Burial was in the New Liberty Cemetery.

She was born in Harlan, Kentucky on February 18, 1940 the daughter of the late Willie and Mary Sammon Murphy. She was a telephone operator and of the Pentecostal Faith.

Her parents and husband Howard Newell precedes her in death.

Survivors include sons Casey Newell of Marshes Siding, Kentucky, Anthoney Newell of Oregon, and Kevin Newell of Texas, daughters Debbie Winckler of Missouri, Cindy Anderson and Mary Lewis both of Phoenix, Arizona, and Belinda Stephens of Marshes Siding, Kentucky, brothers Lester Murphy of Kingmon, Arizona and Billy Murphy of Washington, and a sister Effie Hedgepeth of Las Vegas, Nevada. Nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive.

McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
