Mrs. Lizzie Garland age 100 of Garland Road in Pine Knot, passed away on Tuesday February 16, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 19, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Ridener officiating. Burial was at the Pine Knot Cemetery.
She was born at Barthell, Kentucky on April 13, 1909, daughter of the late James and Sally Slaven Miller.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Edgar Garland and 3 daughters, Loretta Shuck, Louise Perry and Nelly Garland. There are 3 brothers, John, Willie and Alford Miller and 2 sisters, Polly Miller Taylor and Margaret Miller Acres also deceased.
Survivors include 4 sons, John W. Garland, Jerry Garland and Edward Garland all of Pine Knot and Jim Garland of Whitley City. There is one daughter, Aileen Leandord of Cincinnati, Ohio. There are 26 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren also surviving. Tina Louise Akers and Jimmy Butch Garland were grandchildren and were with her until her death.
Mrs. Garland was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
