The McCreary Central Volleyball Team got their season underway on with a two games to one win at Burgin on Thursday night.
McCreary dropped the first game of the best of three match by a score of 25-18 but bounced back for an easy 25-10 win in the second game and got by 25-20 in the deciding game to capture the win.
Head Coach Robert Jones didn’t expect anything to come easy for his young team and was pleased by the overall performance saying “We made some mistakes and didn’t play real well early but that’s going to happen as young as we are but we really played well in the second game so overall I was pretty pleased”.
The Lady Raiders were scheduled to travel to Garrard County last night for thier second match of the season and will play host to a twelve team tournament on Friday and Saturday with games begin held at both McCreary Central and McCreary Middle School.
In addition to McCreary teams from Garrard Co., Adair Co., N. Laurel, Lincoln Co., Whitley Co., Barren Co., Monticello, Wayne Co., Somerset, Burgin and Clinton Co. will be participating. Games will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday and then resume at 8:45 am Saturday with the finals scheduled for approximately 7:00 PM.
Each team will play five games in pool play and then be seeded into a single elimination bracket tournament that should begin about 2:00 pm on Saturday. Overall a total of 41 matches are scheduled to be played in the event. The pool play schedule for McCreary Central is listed below.
