MARSHES SIDING —
The summer season provides a perfect opportunity to get closer to God through the majesty of the great outdoors.
Since 1981, Confrontation Point Ministries has been leading summer mission trips that combine service with team-building exercises and faith-oriented reflection.
The Wilmore, KY-based organization works with more than 40 church youth groups volunteering for home and community projects throughout the Commonwealth.
For the last two summers, CPM has been coming to McCreary County.
Last week the group hosted 15 members from the Pleasant Valley Church of God in Little Rock, Arkansas. Their projects included building a new porch for Marshes Siding resident Lena Spradlin.
Spradlin is a senior who lives with her dogs. A friend urged her to apply after seeing a CPM flyer posted at a gas station.
The youth group camped at Blue Heron within the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. CPM Executive Director Andy Bathje noted that his organization always tries to arrange for “a local outdoor adventure” after the work is done so the missionaries can enjoy the local beauty.
