BEULAH HEIGHTS —
A Tennessee woman has been lodged into the McCreary County Detention Center after a mobile meth lab was discovered in her vehicle early Friday morning.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., McCreary County Sheriff Gus Skinner responded to the report of a woman passed out in her vehicle in the middle of Beulah Heights Road at the 8-mile marker.
Once he arrived, he found the woman — 35-year-old Katina Faye Cooper of Jamestown, TN — to be conscious but his investigation also yielded the discovery of two jugs which appeared to be active meth labs.
Sheriff Skinner arrested Cooper on charges of second-offense Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, Driving on a DUI-Suspended License, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Later in the day, the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force was able to confirm that the contents of each jug comprised what is called an “anhydrous ammonia generator” for the production of methamphetamine. Sheriff Skinner said that he then sought to obtain an addition warrant for Manufacture of Methamphetamine.
At press time, Cooper remains lodged in the McCreary County Detention Center.
