Haynes issued clean audit

County Clerk collected $2.1 million last year

FRANKFORT —  State Auditor Adam Edelen released the audit of the 2011 financial statement of McCreary County Clerk Eric Haynes yesterday.

The audit found that the Clerk’s financial statement presents fairly the revenues, expenditures, and excess fees of the McCreary County Clerk in conformity with the regulatory basis of accounting.

The auditor found no instances of noncompliance nor any material weaknesses involving financial reporting and office operation.

The county clerk’s responsibilities include collecting certain taxes, issuing licenses, maintaining county records and providing other services.    The Clerk’s office is funded through statutory fees collected in conjunction with these duties.

For the 2011 calendar year, the office took in $2,111,015 in revenue and expended $2,018,959. Excess fees of $10,293 were paid to McCreary County Fiscal Court over two payments.

Revenues decreased by $130,204 from the prior year and expenditures decreased by $127,037.

State law requires the auditor to conduct annual audits of county clerks and sheriffs.

The audit report can be found on the auditor’s website, auditor.ky.gov.
