Grand Jury indicts 7 in February

Pine Knot man accused of rape

WHITLEY CITY —  The McCreary County Grand Jury has indicted a Pine Knot man accused of abusing his daughter.

    Joshua Jones, 27, of Pine Knot has been charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and incest in connection to a January 5 involving his minor daughter. The indictment indicates the victim was under 14 years old. Jones, who was arrested on January 16 by Kentucky State Police Detective Tracy Haynes, remains lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center under a $50,000 bond.

    Grand jurors also returned indictments against:

    • Danny L. Ball, 32, of Revelo; and Donnie Barnett, 35, of Whitley City — Receiving Stolen Property Over $500 But Less Than $10,000 and Persistent Felony Offender. Ball and Barnett are jointly charged with receiving stolen property in connection to a January 23 incident in which they were found in possession of various items reported stolen from Wayne Wilson. Ball is additionally charged with second-degree PFO, having been convicted of drug trafficking back in 2008. Barnett is also charged with first-degree PFO, having been convicted of meth manufacturing in 2010; burglary and theft in 2007; and marijuana cultivation in 2001.

    • Anita Roark, 70, of Winfield — first-degree Promoting Contraband. On August 13, Roark brought into the McCreary County Detention Center two Buprenorphine which had been sewn into the cuff of a sweatshirt.

    • Hope L. King, 37, of Pine Knot — Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card Over $500 But Less Than $10,000. Between December 25 and 27, King used a credit card without permission of its holder to obtain $513.50 at various places.

    • William Perry, 40, of Whitley City — first-degree Possession of a Controlled Substance. On January 27, Perry was found in possession of 10 Oxymorphone tablets by McCreary County Deputy Sheriff Tom Smith.

    • Barry Canada, 34, of Bronston — first-degree Criminal Mischief. On August 18, Canada caused more than $1,000 in damage to a 2011 Honda Civic owned by Donna Maxwell.



    Readers are reminded that an indictment is a charge and should not be considered as evidence of an individual’s guilt. Anyone under indictment is presumed innocent until and unless convicted in a court of law.
